NFL Pickem’s week 9.

Looks like Carson has made his picks, time to make ours.
Week 9 in the NFL is here and it has me at a pretty commanding lead. Can Andy and Jesy make a mid-season charge? I would say the likely hood of that happening are about as good as the Browns going to the Super Bowl. Ouch Double burn on Andy. Jesy is back to her old ways of mixing up mascot names, always a funny little treat. My strange pick of the week is Detroit over Seattle. It will perhaps be my undoing this week. Nothing good can really come out of me picking Detroit to win, it’s like putting Carson Kressley in a room with a bunch of gay guys, someone is going to get screwed. Now that you all have that imagery in your head, on to the picks.
Washington vs Atlanta:
- George: Atlanta. Atlanta is a good team that has had to play some tough teams. Well this week is their reward, they get to beat up on a pretty bad Redskins team. B-14, I-32, N-45, G-58, O-72, BINGO, I mean hut. Shit no wonder Jason Campbell looks confused out there.
- Andy: Falcons get back on track after a much-needed dose of Redskin incompetence.
- Jesy: I’ll go with the bird, Falcons, because I really think the Redskins are going to stink it up.
Arizona vs Chicago:
- George: Arizona. No way Kurt Warner has two bad games in a row. His wife might beat him. After throwing 5 picks last week he is going to look to take the Lord’s wrath on someone, that someone happens to be Chicago. I saw what the Bengals did to Chicago, Arizona is just as capable.
- Andy: Is Chicago any good? can AZ bounce back? Both good questions, which means this is a pick em game. I’ll flip a coin and go with Arizona. After seeing the Bears have so much trouble with the Browns defense, I can’t imagine they’ll look good against the Cards.
- Jesy: The Falcons haven’t been too predictable so I’ll stick with da’ Bears. (And another name mix up, I love it. I know she meant the CARDINALS here.)
Houston vs Indy:
- George: Indy. After last weeks close call I am tempted to take Houston here on the upset pick. But I am just not ready to pick against Manning. Matter of fact I think I will ride out Manning and his streak until they lose, which might be this week, yikes. It might have to be Addai that wins this game though, Houston is terrible against the run.
- Andy: If there’s a week to pick an upset against the Colts, this is it. Jackson and Sanders are gone for the year from the Colts secondary and Schaub like throwing it all over the field. However, I don’t like that his favorite target, Owen Daniels, is gone for the year, so Colts will pull this one out at home.
- Jesy: Hands down no competition I’ll pick Indy. Man…are they going to the super bowl or what? Have they lost any games?
Baltimore vs Cincinnati:
- George: Cincinnati. Yep, I went there. I know Baltimore is looking for revenge after we beat them in their house, but Cincy is coming off a huge, COMPLETE win against Chicago and have had two weeks to prepare. I think that is enough to get them by this game and bury the Ravens for the year.
- Andy: The Ravens are coming to town with revenge on their minds. But the Bengals are at home after a bye week and I’m a big believer in the error of recency. So I’m going with the consensus upset and picking the Bengals.
- Jesy: I’m a bit scurred! I’ll be honest, we beat them at their stadium and I was in SHOCK after that one but I think we can pull it off again. If we played like we did against da’ Bears we should be good to go! In the words of Matt Wenstrup, “We’ll see ya!”

I don't understand anything he just said, but he did say fag and that is a no-no.
Kansas City vs Jacksonville:
- George: Jacksonville. I know Jacksonville burned me last week, but I can’t help but like them against a sad Chiefs team. The Chiefs are busy dealing with gay basher Larry Johnson to even remember that they have a game this week.
- Andy: With all the Larry Johnson crap going on, it’s hard to believe the Chiefs will have what it takes to win on the road. Jags out-score the Chiefs to get the victory by default, but nobody really wins here.
- Jesy: Is this another game of suck vs. suck? I’ll pick the Panthers b/c I think KC is more suck! (And yet another name mix up. She is really slipping this week.)
Green Bay vs Tampa Bay:
- George: Green Bay. The battle of the bays should turn into a route rather quickly. Green Bay might have got their hearts ripped out last week by their former hero Brett Favre, but playing Tampa will be just the affair they are looking for to get over the hurt of Favre Bowl. Tampa called me this week to quarterback for them, I told them I had to wash my hair and that I would get back to them.
- Andy: ”Too easy Drill Sergent!” Go Pack GO. Green Bay rolls in sunny Tampa.
- Jesy: he he, Cold Bay vs. Warm Bay. I think the Packers are headed to the warmth and will beat up on the Bucs! (I wasn’t sure if that was a laugh at the beginning of the sentence, or if you were studdering when you type now?)
Miami vs New England:
- George: New England. I love what Miami has done to redeem themselves, but they are still no match for New England, at least not this year. new England is a couple years away from shuttling people from the nursing home to games, but this year they are still good enough to beat a good Miami team, I hope. The New England defense will have a tough time with Miami’s speed and misdirection on offense.
- Andy: The Jets would have beaten the Dolphins if it weren’t for 2, count em 2, kickoff returns for TD. At home with a much better QB, the Pats will wins this one.
- Jesy: Now this is the opposite case, the Fins are headed up to the colder New England area and I think the Patriots will whomp on them. Patriots win.
Carolina vs New Orleans:
- George: New Orleans. I know Carolina is feeling pretty good about last weeks victory, but it was like Kurt Warner went out and just gave you the ball. You will not get so lucky against Drew Brees. Drew Brees and company should have no issues marching all over the Panthers. I think Jake Delhomme will have more turnovers than Drew Brees has touchdowns. Lock it in.
- Andy: ……..Saints……HUGE!!!
- Jesy: I’m going to stick with the Saints. Go Saints!
Detroit vs Seattle:
- George: Detroit. I know, I know there is no reason for me to pick Detroit. But I am going with star power. Calvin Johnson trumps anyone Seattle can throw at me. As long as he is playing I think Detroit can escape with a close victory. Plus old age and injuries are starting to catch up with Seattle.
- Andy: The sucky Seahawks will outshine the listless Lions in the Pacific Northwest…that’s poetic, and prettier than anything that will happen in this game.
- Jesy: Okay, for sure this is SUCK vs. SUCK – shall I just do an enie meanie minie mo on this one? Can’t fight it, I’ll have to pick Seattle!

Perhaps 3 should say RUN LIKE HELL!
Tennessee vs San Francisco:
- George: Tennessee. They finally got that first win and I think they are poised for another. San Francisco has been slipping since the beginning of the year. I like San Fran’s defense still, but they are doing very little offensively. I think Chris Johnson will run wild and Tennessee wins a close one.
- Andy: Can Vince Young possibly go 2-0? Alex Smith vs. VY in the Redemption Bowl. Since SF is 3rd in the league in rushing defense, I don’t think VY can throw them to a win on the road. Niners come out on top.
- Jesy: Titans will beat 49′ers.
San Diego vs New Jersey A:
- George: New Jersey A. The Giants remember how to run the ball and ride Jacobs and Bradshaw to victory. San Diego is an average team that has got to beat up on some cupcakes lately and the Giants will prove to be a little too much for them. LT looks old against a good defense.
- Andy: Both teams need a win pretty badly. I think the G-men will come back in a big way against a SD team that is not good against the run. Giants find their salvation.
- Jesy: I predict the Giants will beat the Chargers.
Dallas vs Philly:
- George: Philly. I just don’t like Dallas, they are too inconsistent and Philly should know to cheat and slide a safety over to help with Miles Austin. Plus Westbrook should be back for about half the game for the Eagles which means that they will actually try to run the ball. Philly should invite any famous actresses to the game in hopes of distracting Tony Romo.
- Andy: I’m not a fan of Philly’s strategy on offense, but Dallas is too up-and-down for me and I don’t like this matchup in Philadelphia. Eagles are too good at home and win this.
- Jesy: I’ll take my chances and pick the Eagles to win this one against the Cowboys.
Pittsburgh vs Denver:
- George: Pittsburgh. Dammit, I hate picking them to win. I think Denver has been exposed, FINALLY, and Pittsburgh is great at preparation. They should be studying film up until 5 minutes before the game in order to ensure a victory. Hope you enjoyed being the media darling while it lasted Denver.
- Andy: Pittsburgh has been awful on the road, and Denver is a tough place to play with the noise and the altitude. But the Steelers are off their bye week and I don’t think Orton is good enough to score enough points to win this game. Denver will need a Special Teams or Defensive TD to win…I don’t think they get it. Steelers win.
- Jesy: Dear NFL Gods, I’m praying to you on this gorgeous Sunday morning to please hear my prayer. Please let Denver beat the ever-living crap out of the Steelers. Thank you, Jesy. (AMEN.)
Good to see Jesy’s hatred for the Steelers came back and rear it’s ugly head again this week. Andy and I have a couple differences and Jesy is way off the reservation with some of her picks. Looks like it will be an interesting week when it is all said and done.
