Battle For Ohio

We've got your Ohio sports fix here!

George Herron

Here I am in all my gloriousness.

So, I figured since there are more than 10 people visiting this site now, it might be good if you all knew who was writing this dribble.  But I warn you, be careful what you wish for!

I am a 30-year-old dude living in Cincinnati.  I was born and raised a few miles north in Middletown, or as we like to affectionately refer to it, Middletucky.  I went to Bishop Fenwick High School for four of the most miserable years of my life.  I then attended Xavier University and had some of the greatest years of my life. I graduated with a Liberal Arts degree (meaning I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life) with a minor in history.  Almost 8 years later I think I have finally figured out what I want to do.  Write.  More specifically I want to write about sports.  I like writing and doing the research for my blog and hope you all appreciate it as well.  Some of you must like it because you keep coming back.  It is either that or you just want something to kill time while you are at work.  I like to think that it is the first choice.

I am married (4 wonderful years) and have two dogs.  Jesy, the wife and Carson, one of the dogs, will make frequent appearances in the blog.  They make it because they and their antics are hilarious as told to me by our polling audience.  Housh, the other dog (yes, we had our dogs named after Bengal players) is quiet and stays out of trouble.  In other words he is delightfully boring and will probably never make the blog.

Teams I follow:

  • Cincinnati Bengals, obvious.
  • Cincinnati Reds, obvious.
  • Xavier University Basketball, obvious.
  • University of Cincinnati football, obvious.
  • Ohio State Football, for blog only.  I am actually a big OSU hater.
  • Michigan Football.  OSU hater, Michigan lover.  Calm down Wolverine fans, Rich needs at least 4 years to get hi players in there.
  • Cleveland Indians, for blog, but I dig them until they play the Reds.
  • Cleveland Browns, for blog.  I don’t hate them, I feel sorry for them.
  • Atlanta Braves, I grew up liking them and still do.  They were ALWAYS on TV when I was younger, so I just watched them a lot.
  • Miami Dolphins, Dan Marino was my favorite quarterback back in the day.  Now I love watching them use the Wildcat, so fun to watch.
  • Boston Red Sox, because I hate the Yankees that much.
  • Cleveland Cavaliers, I HATE the NBA, but I LOVE watching LeBron.

I will also watch swimming, you know once every four years when it is on.  I swam competitively for 13 years, so I am one of the ten people who don’t fall asleep watching it.

Teams I hate:

  • University of Cincinnati basketball.  Seeing how I graduated from Xavier I naturally don’t like UC.  But their blow hard fans make it worse.
  • Ohio State Football.  Again, I follow them for the blog, but I really don’t like them.  They have even bigger blow hard fans than UC.
  • The Yankees.  Doesn’t everyone?
  • Hockey.  I am blanketing all hockey teams.  I just don’t like any hockey, unless I am at the event, then it is tolerable.  Barely.
  • Soccer.  See above, except with out the tolerable part.  If you catch me at a soccer event please feel free to punch me in the face.
  • The Patriots.  I don’t like Belicheat or Tom Brady’s ridiculous chin.
  • The Atlanta Falcons on Madden circa 2005.  Having Vick in that game is like a cheat.
  • The Denver Broncos.  I hated Elway, I hated their ugly uniforms, I hated their constant chop blocking, I hated that Mike Shanahan looked like a giant man-rat, and now they have that stupid play in week one this year against the Bengals.
  • The 49ers.  They have ripped the only two Super Bowls the Bengals have been in away from them.
  • The Steelers.  I am a Bengals fan so I have to, but even if I weren’t I would still not like the Steelers.  The fans are generally arrogant and prickish, Anytime I see a terrible towel I get enraged, every time I see Hines Ward I want to punch him in the throat and Terry Bradshaw molested my wife.(True story.)
  • Any Team from New York City.  I don’t like New York, that is no secret, but my dispise and disgust even filter down to the sports teams.

Pet Peeves:

  • Brett Favre
  • Steroids
  • The DH
  • The NBA
  • Mike Brown
  • Women beaters
  • Popped collars
  • Pete Rose not being in the Hall of Fame
  • Hollywood
  • Baseball Union
  • Bud Selig
  • Kobe Bryant

And there you have it.  That is me in a very small nutshell.  I am sure there is a ton missing, but hey if you want to know more just ask.  Also, if you have any ideas for blogs or articles that would be relevant to reference please send then to me!
